Keith Mosher Assistant Instructor
|
Keith was born in Morristown, New
Jersey (home of the seeing-eye dog),
where he lived until age 6. He then
spent a few years in Las Vegas,
Nevada, when, at age 9, he moved to
Columbia, South Carolina where he
has remained.
Keith's Martial Arts path began in 1970, when he attended a few classes in Judo. Being one
of those ultra-skinny, tiny kids, he quickly found Judo was not the art for him.
At 5 months old... Was this photo a portend? ;)

In 1972 he met Sensei Jimmy Louge, and then brown belt, Sensei Gary Shull. Keith began
study under Sensei Louge in what was then called Okinawan Motobo Ru and later renamed
to Shorigi Kempo. Keith studied with Sensei Louge and Sensei Shull until receiving his brown
belt in 1975.
As happens with many
teenage martial artists -
life stepped in. Keith
went on to college and
his martial arts training
was put on hold. He
attended USC, studying
Media Arts, and
graduating on the
Dean's List with a
Bachelor's Degree in
1980.
Keith took employment at USC as an audio producer/engineer
in the Instructional Services Center. There he designed audio
recording studios and produced soundtracks for television and
film - such as the Joe Morrision Show - a post-game TV show.
He also set up sound systems and press feeds for notables
such as President Ronald Reagan, Dizzie Gillespie, Kiss and
others.

While employed at USC, Keith took up skydiving, becoming a C-Licensed,
certified Jumpmaster - training over 80 students on their first jumps. He married,
had a wonderful son (Alexander) and divorced. He left USC in 1992 to start his
own business maintaining aquariums for businesses. That business failed and
he spent several years in a variety of job positions - office manager of a heating
and air company, Information and Technology and Art manager at Maurice's
Gourmet Barbeque's National Headquarters, and office manager of a law firm. He
has since started and maintains a computer programming business (LegalSync,
LLC). All the while he continued his martial arts training on his own.

At the ripe old age of 9, Alex Mosher (Keith's
son) decided he wanted to study the martial
arts (guess it runs in the blood). Keith and
Alex began attending Columbia Martial Arts
and Training Center (now Columbia Martial
Arts and Fitness).
Keith has continued his training at CMA ever since.
He has been awarded:
 | | A Black Sash under Sifu Mills in Jun Fan Gung Fu / JKD.
|
 | | A Brown Sash in Wing Chun under Sifu Fong.
|
 | | A Brown Belt in Okinawan Kempo under Sensei Louge.
|
 | | Apprentice Instructor in Muay Thai Kick Boxing under Sifu Mills. |

Keith has attended a host of seminars
with notables such as:
Sensei Erik Paulson,
Sensei Rigan Machado,
Guro / Sifu Dan Inosanto,
Frank Shamrock,
Larry Hartsel,
and many others.
He has been continually invited to attend Sifu
Francis Fong's Wing Chun Instructor's
Conference since the orgainization's inception,
and has been awarded a Brown Sash in Wing
Chun by Sifu Francis Fong.
Sifu Keith, CMA's senior student (and literally the oldest one) is CMA's general
gofer, behind the scene's guy and technology guru, and assists with classes
where ever needed.

A Comment from Sifu Mills:
"Keith has been the behind the scenes force behind CMA&F for many years. He has stepped up every time he was
needed – without being asked – and done all that he could to help me and the school survive and thrive. He has an
abiding passion for the arts and a deep concern for the progress of the students.
particularly Wing Chun and Jun Fan/JKD. I look to him constantly to refresh and extend my own understanding."
